Fertile Soil

Fertile Soil

installation: edible plants, (litter from the streets of Montreal), soil (from parks)

This installation deals with the fact that the majority of North America’s most fertile soils are occupied by cities, rendering them nearly useless for food production, a fact most city-dwellers are unaware of. Litter was collected from the streets of Montreal and filled with soil from parks, and edible sprouts planted in it.
